Configure CSV
Previous  Next

The Configure CSV dialog box is used to configure the fields of a CSV file that USBMoney requires to import transactions successfully into an account.

USBMoney requires 3 fields from a CSV file - Date / Detail & Amount. Once these fields are mapped  The mappings are saved to the account name. This means all accounts can be configured individually to import their particular banks CSV file format. The configuration is required once per account. CSV file configuration also requires a Separator Symbol (usually a comma ',' as in Comma Separated Value file), a debit symbol (usually a '-' ) and a Field Separator Symbol (this is sometimes the quote '"' symbol). The Field Separator Symbol is sometimes placed around a transactions detail text & USBMoney removes it for cosmetic reasons.

e.g. 01/01/2005,-235.45,"Car Loan"

Date would be mapped to field 0
Detail would be mapped to field 2
Amount would be mapped to field 1

Note:
When first configuring a CSV files mappings default symbols are used. If these are not correct change the symbols in the symbol edit boxes to the correct values (by looking at the CSV file preview). When the correct values have been entered click 'Refresh' & the CSV file will be reloaded.

In the example above first select the Date field from the list box on the left hand side of the dialog box, then select 'Date' from the 'Map to ->' combo box. Next select the 'Detail' field then select 'Detail' from the 'Map to ->' combo box. Lastly select the 'Amount' field then select 'Amount' from the 'Map to ->' combo box. Click OK on the dialog box & the account CSV file mappings are saved.
